Cable cars are kind of overrated?

IDK, I took a cable car for the first time expecting some epic experience but it was just okay. Lots of people, slow pace, and the ticket price seems a bit high. Am I missing something or is this a known thing?

As a local, I only ride them when family visits. They're kinda a hassle for daily commute. But hey, it brings in the tourists and helps the economy, so there's that.

Next time, skip the cable car and hike up some of the hills. Telegraph Hill has some amazing views and you get a good workout too! Plus, it's free!

They're great for photos though! If you love photography, try getting on one at sunset or just after dawn. Less busy and you'll get some amazing shots of the city.

Wow, you mean a tourist trap wasn't that great? Shocking. /s

Totally agree. $8 a ride is pretty steep. You can get a day pass if you wanna ride more though. Honestly, there are better ways to spend your money in SF.

The history of cable cars is pretty cool though. They were a big engineering marvel back in the day. If you go to the Cable Car Museum, you can learn all about their history and mechanics. It's actually really fascinating, promise.

LOLOL same here! Thought it'd be like those old movies but nah, just a bunch of people and a lot of waiting. Think it's just one of those 'do it once and move on' kind of things.

Tbh, they're mostly for tourists now. Back in the day, locals would actually use them for transportation, but now it's more of a tourist attraction. If you want a better experience, try a less crowded time, like early morning.
