Just landed a sweet job at a start-up and I'm fresh from the Midwest. What's the DL on networking or just meeting like-minded folks who wanna talk shop, but also the best burritos and craft beer? Google’s not as helpful as I hoped.

Hey!!! 😍 I also just moved here from the Midwest, PM me if you wanna explore together? I've heard the Mission is where it's at for burritos AND meetups.

Mission burritos are legit! La Taqueria or El Farolito are must-tries. And for beer, hit up Cellarmaker - the rotation's always on point. About tech meetups, there's usually something going on at Meetup.com. SF New Tech is a solid event, I try to swing by whenever it happens. Keep an eye on Eventbrite too.

Tech meetups? Lol more like recycled pitch fests. Just stick to Reddit and avoid the pretentious networking events. Beers and burritos are the only tech culture you need to indulge in. Alamo Square Park + a solid burrito = true SF experience.

Please don't be rude or we ban you

lol new here but trying too hard y'all. It’s 'Frisco, let things roll. @mods, thanks for keeping it friendly in here 🙏. Any advice for a non-techie looking to understand this startup world better without the pretentious fluff? Burritos, I get. Tech culture? Now that’s another story.

The convo's kinda spinning, huh? Just my 2 bits—meetups can be hit or miss, but so's everything in life. You gotta sift through. SF's tech scene is tight-knit if you find your crowd. And for craft brews, Mikkeller Bar, dude. Killer selection. As for you moderators, keep up the tough love.

Heard you on the Alamo burrito vibe, but if you haven't had a California burrito yet, have you really lived? Sneak over to Taqueria Cancún and thank me later. Burritos aside, isn’t tech about connection? Face to face beats keyboard warriors any day.

C'mon, everything’s not a waste of time at meetups. Some of us actually learn a thing or two—ya know, between the pitches. But I get it, nothing beats chillin' with a burrito in the park. Still, don't knock the networking till you try it. SF's all about the blend, tech and chill.

is it just me or everywhere in the city’s turning into the same side hustle spiel? just went to this 'networking mixer' and no cap, it was as dry as my grandma's pot roast. still waiting to find that group where people talk more about last night's ball game and less about their ICO...

Back to the important stuff: burritos. After you've hit up Mission for those burritos everyone recommends, don't sleep on Nick's Crispy Tacos on Polk. It’s not your traditional Mission burrito, but their tacos with the works? Game changer. As for beers, Niners Nation loves their chill brews at Barebottle Brewing Company - the thematic flavors will score with any SF sports fan.

To add to the previous point, Noisebridge is indeed a fantastic space if you're looking to roll up your sleeves and dive into projects with a creative community. It's not just talk; you actually get to make stuff. There's also Hack Reactor for coding and General Assembly events if you're looking to upgrade skills or network in a more structured environment. 🖖

Hey mods, chill a bit maybe? People are just venting. And yeah, some meetups can feel like pitch pester IO, but don't throw 'em all out. Some have genuine peeps wanting to connect & it all depends on what you're into. If you're not a beer-in-the-park person, SF's got tech talks, workshops, you name it. Check out Noisebridge for some maker/hacker space action!

Ya gotta spread your wings beyond just Mission burritos, though they are the bomb. Try the lesser-known spots too, like Taqueria Cancún or Papalote. Each spot's got their own twist. Wash it down with some local suds from Barebottle or Seven Stills. And don't sleep on the smaller meetups either; found some gems where the tech talk's real and the pretense is low.

C'mon, every spot's got their ups and downs. I've been to a few meetups and sure, some can be a bit pitchy but others are solid gold. Met a few of my now-closest buddies at one. As long as you vibe with the crowd, you're golden. Keep an open mind, you might be pleasantly surprised!

If you're serious about networking within the tech scene here, keep your LinkedIn updated and active. A ton of recruiters and industry insiders rely on it for event invites and headhunting in the Bay Area. Also, consider joining a co-working space; not only for the work environment but also for the built-in community—WeWork and Galvanize have solid reputations. On another note, when it comes to burritos, the secret is to find your ‘go-to’ spot. It’s a personal journey. Same for beer, but don’t skip on Barebottle Brewing Co.—their experimental batches are often a hit.

Seconding La Taqueria, their carnitas burrito is a game changer. And for craft beers, you've gotta check out Toronado on Haight St. It's like a rite of passage for San Francisco beer lovers. The vibe is great—reminds me of a dive bar but with a killer beer selection. Oh, for networking, why not hit up some hackathons or local tech talks? Can be a cool place to meet peeps who're also into coding and stuff.

I'm also new here!! :) It’s so exciting, right? I don’t know much but for burritos, my coworker said to try Cancun Burrito, so maybe we can check it out together? Haven't had the beer yet but heard about this place called Zeitgeist, supposed to be super chill with a big beer garden. I've got no clue on the networking, but super down to learn about anything tech-related out here!

Eh, everyone's gonna tell you Mission for burritos, but trust me, hit up the little spots no one's heard of for the real gems. As for tech meetups, forget the formal stuff, too many suits. Find a hacker house and mingle with the people actually building the future. Beer? Please. It’s all about the craft cocktails now, get with the times! Try Bourbon and Branch for starters, thank me later.

First of all, welcome to SF! Always happy to see new faces in tech around the city. For networking events, check out the ones held by Hackers and Founders or sf.citi. If you’re into something more casual to talk shop, join a co-working space - they often have socials. For the brews, I can't stress enough how much you need to visit Toronado in Lower Haight. They've got a variety that'll blow your Midwest experiences out of the water. And for that ultimate burrito experience, Papalote over in the Mission will not disappoint. Triple threat with their salsa!

First of all, welcome. We talk tech all the time here so you'll fit right in. But this city is more than just chips and salsa, it’s about the culture. Can’t stress enough: respect the locals, learn the history. And for the love of SF, don’t skip the small taquerias, each one's got its own flavor. P.S. Anchor Steam is a local beer staple, support local breweries.

To really get into the scene, get yourself to some hackathons, even if you're just spectating at first. Tons of tech peeps to meet there. For burritos, you've GOTTA go to La Taqueria and get that Mission-style burrito experience. 🌯 And for craft beers, hit up City Beer Store or Mikkeller Bar, stellar selections there!

I've lived here for years and I’ll tell you, the Mission's still the king of burritos. La Taqueria, El Farolito, and Taqueria Cancún, can't go wrong. For networking, check out sfnewtech and Eventbrite for local events. Just hit the pavement and you'll find your spots in no time.

Ayy, good for you! Make sure you're on top of the tech meetups, bunch of 'em are free or low-cost. Meetup.com is your best friend, and don’t be ashamed to play the 'new in town' card. Burritos? El Farolito is where it’s at. Beerwise, Cellarmaker doesn’t disappoint, cheers!

Hey, welcome to SF! Start-up scene's pretty tight here, look for events on Meetup or hit up some hackathons to find your tribe. For the best burritos you've gotta check out La Taqueria in the Mission, and Mikkeller Bar for craft beers. Don't sleep on these spots!

hey, def hit up the tech talks at Noisebridge in the Mission – it's an awesome hackerspace. The crowd there is really into tech and there's always something cool to learn. Burrito-wise, can't beat Taqueria Cancún. For beer, Cellarmaker's my go-to. Cheers!

Welcome to SF! For networking, check out meetups on 'Meetup.com' specifically for tech and startups. Lots of interesting stuff happening around SoMa and you might even catch some happy hour events. For amazing burritos, El Farolito is a must-try, and Toronado in the Lower Haight is pretty solid for craft beers. Enjoy!
