I miss the old SF

Anyone else feeling nostalgic for how the city used to be about 10 years ago? I don’t know, maybe it's just me, but I feel like the vibe has changed a lot with all the tech bros and endless construction. Sometimes I walk through the Mission and barely recognize it. Thoughts?

lol miss the old SF? what, you miss getting your car broken into and not being able to afford a slice of pizza? Good riddance, let the billionaires have it 😂

I get you, but at least our food scene is still on point! So many new exciting restaurants and food trucks popping up. That's the SF spirit to me, always a mixed plate of the world!

Everything's getting too polished now, no more grit. You can't even find a decent dive bar without some sort of 'concept'. And don’t get me started on traffic and rents. It's all these techies flocking in and driving out us locals.

San Francisco's been changing since the Gold Rush days, guys. It’s all about reinvention. It's sad to lose the cultural spots that make this city what it is, but also, isn't change inevitable? Not saying I love the higher costs or anything, but the city's ability to keep attracting people is what has kept it alive through the ups and downs of history.

Hmmm, just got here a year ago so can't say much about the past. I love SF for what it is now tho... I mean, aren't cities supposed to change and grow?

I hear ya! It's like the soul of the Mission is getting buried under all these new condos and coffee places that sell toast for $8. Miss the days when you could actually afford rent and bump into artists and musicians every corner you turned.

Yeah, the city's changed, but that's just evolution, right? Tech's given a lot to SF, not just in terms of jobs but also advancements in daily living. I guess you win some, you lose some. 🤷‍♂️

Couldn't agree more! The old SF had such a unique charm to it, with cozy cafes and quirky local shops that you'd never find anywhere else. Now it feels like every other block is either a tech startup or some ritzy boutique. Miss those hole-in-the-wall places in the Tenderloin that felt like hidden gems.
