Rosie and Jim scared me as a kid

This series was the bad CITV show I watched as a kid. I usually preferred Sooty and Co./Sooty Heights/Sooty (2001)/Sooty (2011) over this.

The puppets looked like they were creeping over me very much. And the boat steerer was doing nothing. The duck also made a creepy quack. And guess what? Their voices sound awful.

At least it got cancelled.

You gotta remember most shows from that era look pretty bad by today's standards. But I totally remember being a kid and having those surreal, almost horror movie moments with some episodes. Probably why we loved the shows tbh, they engaged us on a different level, even if it was through fear. The boat steerer you mentioned, always moving without effort, it's like lazy puppeteering magic. Not to mention the charm of that rough animation we rarely see anymore.

lol 'creepy quack'. that duck was probably the scariest part of the show. bigger plot twist than anything on Game of Thrones smh

I've always thought that there's something subtly unsettling about puppets from back in the day. The uncanny valley effect they have seems so obvious now. The static faces with moving mouths just hit that nerve, don't they? Especially on old televisions where the picture quality added another layer of creepy. Rosie and Jim weren't the only ones, there's a whole list of old shows that would fit right into a horror flick.

haha yeah I get what you mean, Rosie and Jim were kinda strange in a way. It's one of those shows u look back at as an adult and just see how weird it all was. Kind of creepy when u really think about it.
