Why you need to stop lifting and start cardio

Guys, I figured it out! The secret to fitness is... CARDIO. Just run everywhere. The elliptical, the treadmill... forget weights, just keep running, MORE RUNNING. PS: Just kidding, please don't kill me.

Excuse me? Stop lifting? Blasphemy! Strong muscles support healthy bodies. Cardio is important, sure, but there's more to fitness life than running.

I'm a Sports Medicine specialist. While this is a hilarious post, it's important to keep in mind the benefits of a balanced fitness routine. Cardiovascular workouts do wonders for your overall stamina and heart health, and strength training maintains muscle mass, bone density, and can help with balance and stability. Let's not think of fitness as a dichotomy, but as a spectrum where various activities have different effects and benefits

Hahaha, you had me there for a second. As much as running is a great workout, we all know balance is the key. Moderate cardio + lifting = Healthy and fit life. Just my opinion though 🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Professional bodybuilder here.

Ha! Gave me a good laugh. But understand this, mate, weightlifting is an integral part of a balanced workout routine. While cardio is great for heart health and losing weight, lifting helps build muscle, strength and supports your bone health. You are right! Keep running, but also...KEEP LIFTING! 💪
