Cartoon Network UK Classics

Can't beat the old Cartoon Network lineup in the UK. Shows like Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and Cow and Chicken were absolute gems. And let's not forget Courage the Cowardly Dog! Animation had so much more character back then with those sketchy lines and bright colours. Ah, the good old days of afternoon telly!

Cartoon Network back then was like a daily dose of psychedelic cartoons - in a good way! Johnny Bravo... that man taught me more about being cringy around girls than any life lesson. Cow and Chicken?! Honestly, I still don't get it, but I loved the nonsense. Guess it all made the usual fish fingers and chips more exciting while mum wasn’t watching. 😂

Back when cartoons weren’t all digital and had a personality! Hand-drawn animations, every frame done with care. Kids these days are missing out if you ask me. Those quirky plots and strange humor... I still remember sitting with my kids watching Courage shaking from whatever monster they conjured up that week. Classic!

Did you know Dexter's Laboratory was created by Genndy Tartakovsky? He also worked on Samurai Jack, another masterpiece! And that steampunk aesthetic of Dexter? Totally groundbreaking for its time. They even played around with backgrounds to give it that unique look.

Yeah, fond memories of Cow and Chicken eating pork butt. That's what we were subjected to, wondering why we turned out the way we did. 😆 Grab a VHS and transport back to a time when cartoons weren’t just about selling toys.

Oh man, I remember rushing home just to catch the latest episodes! Dexter's inventions always had me dreaming of being a scientist. And Johnny Bravo? Such a laugh. They just don't make them like they used to... 😔 Falshbacks of my after-school days are flooding back, haha! Good times. Compare that to what's on TV now, and it's just not the same.

You know, Cartoon Network in the UK really hit its stride in the late 90s and early 2000s. Beyond just the shows mentioned, they had Ed, Edd n Eddy, which had a whole different animation style. Even Space Ghost Coast to Coast was a unique late-night gem that went on to inspire that adult animation genre we see today. This era was also notable because of the animation style - much of it was influenced by the Classic Hollywood style and used thick outlines, minimal shading, and a bizarre aesthetic that coincided perfectly with the kind of humor these shows were going for.

Dexter's Laboratory was the best! 🧪🔬 Remember the episode where Dexter builds a dream machine? Pure genius. I miss those days when you'd come back from school, switch on the telly, and escape into their worlds for hours. ❤️
