Dude, coins let you enjoy the game without the fear of a game over screen. They keep you in the game and let you push limits on exploring. They have a purpose for sure.

Okay, let me break it down for you. Coins in Odyssey are essentially lifeblood for completionists. Not only are they used for cosmetic buys and as a 'live' system, but also for different in-game achievements that unlock even more gameplay content. Plus, if you wanna max out the Odyssey for that sweet 100% achievement, you're gonna need every coin you can grab. It all contributes to a sense of progression and reward.

Aren’t they also used for buying hints from Talkatoo or the Toad? For players who want to find all the Moons, coins are pretty useful.

it's part of the challenge to get a high coin count, plus the costumes! And don't get me started on the darker side of the moon levels, you'll need the coins then for sure.

I thought the same at first but they add up and you do need them for extra Moons. They kinda grow on you when you get into outfit collecting too!

pfft coins, who needs 'em? I just kidnap the princess and call it a day. Why collect coins when you can collect castles, amirite?

lol u serious? Coins are how you buy the cool costumes, and they’re your extra lives. If u think they’re pointless you’re probably not exploring all the game offers. Odyssey is all about the extras and secrets.

Actually, coins in Odyssey serve a few important purposes. You can use them to buy new outfits for Mario and even get some Power Moons from the shops. Plus, they're used to continue the game when you die instead of the traditional life system. So, they're definitely not just gimmicks.
