Alright, so I've been binge-watching Jake Gyllenhaal movies (Because his name's Jake, duh...) and I think I've narrowed down his top 5 performances:
Nightcrawler: Gyllenhaal as Louis Bloom is seriously chilling. Guy made me afraid of cameras for a few days.
Donnie Darko: A classic. The film's mindboggliness is perfectly complemented by Gyllenhaal's sublime performance.
Prisoners: Gyllenhaal's character showcases a mix of determination and vulnerability that’s honestly heart-wrenching.
Brokeback Mountain: Controversial, sure, but no one can deny Jake and Heath's layered, emotional performances.
Zodiac: Another thriller, another spectacular performance by Gyllenhaal.
Let me know what you guys think. Any hidden gems I missed?

Film Studies grad here, and I gotta say, this list is pretty solid. However, End of Watch is a hidden gem that needs more attention. Jake's chemistry with Michael Peña is incredible, and the film's gritty realism is a testament to Jake's commitment to his roles.

Jake Gyllenhaal is unquestionably a talent but I think your list isn't complete without mentioning his performance in Jarhead. He perfectly captured the frustration and isolation that soldiers can feel in war times. His body language and the distant look in his eyes? Unforgettable. It wasn't a massive blockbuster like the other movies, so I get why it's overlooked, but his performance is outstanding.
