Insomnia led me to lose my family, job, everything

Man, that's rough. Insomnia's a beast, been there. Diet change worked wonders for me. Cut out caffeine, sugar, ate more greens. Also, weird tip but wearing socks to bed? Somehow it helped me. And deep breathing exercises to chill out before sleep. Might sound too simple but worth a shot.
