The Horrendous Outcome of A Poorly Constructed Taco

I've been a fan of Mexican food for almost a decade now, and if there's one thing that consistently saddens me, it's a poorly made taco. The taco is a culinary masterpiece that incorporates a perfect blend of flavors and textures when done right. However, poorly constructed tacos are the WORST and here's why:

  1. The Tortilla – When you have a tortilla that's too dry, the whole taco falls apart. You might as well have a taco salad instead. And no, toasting it won't magically improve things. It just dries it out faster, enhancing the crumbling.

  2. The Ratio – The taco filling is all about the balance! When there’s too much filling, it overpowers the tortilla, leading to an awful mess. Too little, and you might as well be eating just the tortilla. A proper taco might as well be a work of art, balancing taste, texture, and quantity.

  3. Soggy Tacos – Overloaded salsas and too-saucy fillings can result in a soggy taco mess. The tortilla disintegrates, leaving you with a heap of meat, veggies, and salsa on your plate.

  4. Overusing Ingredients – Just because it’s Mexican cuisine doesn’t mean you throw in every spice or ingredient you associate with it. Sometimes a simple combo of meat, pico de gallo and a sprinkle of cheese is enough.

In conclusion, please learn how to construct a proper taco or, in the least, order from a place that knows how to. Don't ruin this beautiful dish by half-assembly.

lol tacos aren't that deep. Just dump in everything and eat. Tastes the same going down.

Amen on the tortilla rant! People underestimate the importance of a good tortilla. It's the backbone of a taco. Not too dry, not too wet - it's a delicate balance. Once you learn that, your taco game levels up!

Tbh, run of the mill tacos have their own charm. Not all tacos need to be gourmet.

Back in my day, taco making was an artform not some fast-food gimmick. Only fresh tortillas, just enough filling, and just a little bit of salsa. Anything else is un-‘taco’-ceptable. They don't make them like that anymore.

I've seen worse things on this sub, but this definitely makes top ten. Bad tacos are a crime. Keep spreading the word!

I hear ya, but you gotta admit, there's something fun about a bit of spice roulette with random ingredients. Keeps every taco adventure interesting, ya know? 🌮🌶️

As a chef who specializes in Mexican cuisine, I couldn't agree more with your points. It's all about respecting the ingredients and understanding their role in the dish. Each taco is different and requires a unique touch. Keep speaking the truth my friend, people need to know how a proper taco is made!
