Yesterday, I embarked on what I anticipated to be a culinary journey at Casa de Carnitas. Sadly, this 'journey' was less a delightful expedition and more of a descent into the ninth circle of culinary hell. This began deceitfully with a basket of stale chips partnered with a salsa that was undoubted from a year-old can. The 'carnitas' I ordered could best be described as pork-flavored rubber cubes accompanied by a side of rice that seemed to have given up on life itself. To top this off, the service matched the quality of the food. Our server was more elusive than a snowstorm in the Sahara. In a market rich with authentic and vibrant cuisine, Casa de Carnitas manages to bungle the basic principles of Mexican cooking and hospitality.

Genuine carnitas should be tender, juicy, and flavorful. It's an insult to such a traditional dish when a restaurant can’t deliver on that. It's all about the slow cooking process and the right spices. If you're desperate for legit carnitas, hit up La Esquina down on 5th Street. Place is legit, family-run, and never disappoints.

As someone who prides themselves on their discerning palate, your experience at Casa de Carnitas is disheartening but not surprising. Most establishments that fail to respect the authenticity of such a culturally rich dish like carnitas are bound to falter. Rice, being one of the simplest dishes to perfect, reflects negligence when mishandled. The disservice to Mexican cuisine here is profound. Thank you for sharing; it's vital that we hold local eateries to a standard that honors both tradition and the dining experience.

Wow, sorry to hear that your experience was so bad! I remember when Casa de Carnitas used to be the go-to spot. Sounds like they’ve really let things slide. Anyone know if they changed owners or something? A good carnitas place is hard to find these days!
