Fairbanks, Alaska in the summer

Who’d have thought Alaska would be hell in summer? Mosquitos, mosquitos everywhere! Went there for the cool weather, got swarmed instead. Can't sit outside for a minute without getting bit like crazy. I'd say take a flamethrower with you and just burn 'em all, but that might not go down well with the town lol.

Flamethrower? Dude, you're seriously onto something there. Just imagine... roasting marshmallows over a bonfire of burning mosquitos.

OMG! Thanks for the heads up! I was planning a trip next summer. Mosquitos! Ugh... Hate them with a passion! Guess I'd just stick to the cities then.

I mean, if you can't take a joke from Mother Nature, maybe Alaska isn't for you, buddy. But hey, at least you won't have to worry about catching malaria up here.

Oh, you must’ve come during that weird summer period we call ‘mosquitoes apocalypse’. They’re a headache, sure, but part of the Alaskan experience. And they definitely aren’t around all year. Plus, we get days full of sunshine without that scorching heat most places have. Don’t let the little bloodsuckers chase you away! Alaska is great!

Interesting observation! Insects, including mosquitoes, are indeed more active in the summer, and Alaska is famous for the sheer mass of these airborne annoyances. They primarily breed in swampy or marshy areas, which are common in Alaskan regions. Although bothersome to humans, they serve as an integral part of the food chain for countless species. To mitigate their impact, you could consider wearing long clothes, on top of using insect repellents.

Fairbanks summer: where the state's bird (mosquito) is as big as an actual bird! You gotta remember though, those pesky mosquitos play an important part in the ecosystem. They're a big food source for birds and fish. But for personal comfort, always carry some repellant or even a bug jacket!

Haha you’re not kidding about those mosquitos! My husband and I made the same mistake a couple of years back. Went there for some cool weather, ended up getting brunch with the bloodsuckers instead. Pro tip though, they hate smoke, so if you light up a small fire or some citronella candles, you can finally get some peace (and fresh air).
