So yeah, I'm NOT a priest, but I did an online course thing so I could officiate my best friend's wedding. I was super nervous but practiced tons. Come the big day and all goes well, until, YEP, the very climax, and I mispronounced the bride's name!!! Called her 'Amy' instead of 'Annie'. I’ll never live it down, she still mocks me every chance she gets!

As a marriage counselor for over two decades, I've seen and heard a fair share of stumbling words, lost rings, and even fainting brides and grooms. The day is fraught with high emotions, and it's normal to make a few slip ups. At the end of the day, the ceremony is a formality. What truly matters is the promise two individuals make to each other, and it doesn’t hinge upon the flawless execution of the rituals or even saying the right names. A bit of humor and forgiveness can go a long way.

Don't beat yourself up dude, everyone messes up. Sounds like your friend has a sense of humor about it. It'll become one of those funny memories you guys will be laughing about for years. Next time, take a cue card... or, better yet, don't officiate weddings!
