Router update killed my speeds

Decided to be a good netizen and update my router's firmware. Got everything done BUT now my speeds are a tenth of what they were. every device is slow af. Resetting doesn't do jack. If you got a ticking update, maybe don't, unless u wanna join the snail-speed club with me. :/

Download some more RAM for it, that should fix it 😆 Seriously though, if you can't get it sorted, might be time for an upgrade. Nothing lasts forever unfortunately.

Had something similar happen. Power cycled my router (probs already tried that lol), then left it off for a solid 10 minutes. Actually fixed it. Weird, but might be worth a shot? Electrical components are fickle creatures.

Shot in the dark but check if the update changed the channel your WiFi is broadcasting on. Overlapping with neighbors can cause major slowdowns. Grab an app that analyzes WiFi channels and see if switching to a less crowded one helps. Also, try disabling any new 'features' that came with the update, they could be hogging bandwidth.

This is exactly why I never update my gear. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Now I'm not saying we need to go back to tin cans and strings, but hey, maybe we were on to something back then. Good luck with the troubleshooting, buddy. Sometimes older is better.

Just updated mine and it's like I'm back in the 90s dial-up era! Gonna sit this one out and hope a new update fixes it lol

Hey, it's quite common for firmware updates to mess with your settings. Have you checked the QoS settings? Sometimes an update resets them and prioritizes the wrong stuff, or caps your speeds for network 'optimization'. Always gotta back up your settings before an update. Worst case, install open-source firmware if it’s compatible with your router.

ugh that sucks! Did you try rolling back to the previous firmware version? Manufacturers usually keep an archive of old firmwares. Saved me once.
