lol imagine not backing up your data in 2023

So, your HDD took a nosedive and you lost everything? Hah, get on with the times noob. Ever heard of clouds? Or are you just using your computer to do pottery? Next time, try not to act shocked when your tech from the stone age dies. #BackUpOrShutUp

RIP to your data, OP. Everyone else, just set a calendar reminder to backup your stuff like once a month. It's not rocket science. You can cry about it, or you can take 10 mins to sort your life out.

The cloud is a lie. It's just someone else's computer. Wake up sheeple!

Hey everyone, remember that not all data should go to the cloud, especially without encryption. Local backups might feel ancient, but they're still useful. And ffs, use reliable SSDs if you're gonna store it locally. If you’re techy enough, set up a local server with Nextcloud for cloud-like access without sacrificing control over your data.

lol I used to be that guy who 'forgot' to backup. Learn from my tears, peeps. Google Photos saved my memories from phone mishaps too – worth considering for personal stuff.

Wow OP, such compassion ;-) How about instead of kicking ppl when they're down, we offer solutions? Yeah, cloud's a thing – tell us something we don't know. Let's not pretend every cloud service is perfect either...

Sure, cloud is king, but some of us enjoy the tactile feel of swapping backup drives - it's ritualistic, okay? Not to mention, not everyone trusts cloud services with sensitive data. If you're gonna go old school though, make it RAID. Buy a cheap NAS and set it up with RAID 1 at least. Your future self will thank you.

Harsh tone OP, but fair point. Everybody, cloud storage is a no-brainer these days. Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive offer free tiers that are great for basics. For those more concerned about privacy and willing to pay, check out Tresorit or SpiderOak. Always remember to enable two-factor authentication to keep your backups safe from prying eyes. Another tip – use local backups and cloud backups. Redundancy, people!
