Over the years, my holidays have been a mix of delightful adventures and trainwreck disasters. But if there's one thing I've learned, it's the art of packing. Yes, you may scoff at this, but hear me out.
First and foremost, always start with a list. If you think you're above the humble list, you're setting yourself up for 'well, that sucks' moments.
Secondly, pack for your destination. Heading to Spain? Don't pack a heavy jacket because 'you never know'. That's rookie world traveler talk. You do know. You know the average weather conditions of your destination for the time of year you are visiting. Respect that knowledge.
Thirdly, roll, don't fold. This age-old debate has been settled by me, numerous times over. Rolling your clothes saves space and reduces wrinkles, end of story.
Lastly, leave space for souvenirs. Holidays aren't just about the middle bits where you have fun. It's also about the end bits where you bring back a tacky snow globe or something and your family pretends to like it.
Follow these rules, and your holiday packing will be a far cry from disaster, lads and lasses. Don't, and well... that's gonna suck.

Your post's taken me back to my younger days, the naïve trips where packing a suitcase meant shoving half my wardrobe in there. Once you learn these lessons, you never forget. It's the travel version of 'wisdom comes with age'. And souvenirs, man! My house is part museum, part alien artifact collection point.

Good advice, I'd also mention a portable charger, it's a lifesaver in a pinch. Another hack - pack a spare set of underwear and a T-shirt in your hand luggage. If your checked suitcase gets lost (happens more often than you'd think), you'll be glad you did.

Amen on the 'roll, don't fold rule'! It's a packing game-changer. Managed to fit a week's worth of clothes into a carry-on thanks to this one trick. Also, I'm all about those tacky snow globes. Who cares if it's all plastic, it's memories mate.
