Major OS update? More like major FAIL update

You ever hit 'update' on your computer, expecting everything to get better? Ha! Did that last night and woke up to a brick. Won't boot, just gives me the blue screen of despair. Literally a paperweight now. And of course, I've got deadlines. Anyone else get sniped by the latest update?

Bricked your computer with an update? Congrats, you've just been initiated into the 'I don't know how to tech' club. Pro tip: try turning it on and off again. 😜

Major FAIL update, more like every update am I right? 😂 But seriously, try to get into safe mode, or use a restore point if you're lucky enough to have set one up.

This is why I always tell my friends to switch to Linux or at the very least dual boot. Windows updates are a gamble where the house always wins - and by house, I mean Microsoft's bug check team. Sorry about your machine, hope you get it sorted out!

Yep, happened to me last month. Had to reinstall the whole OS. It was a nightmare, lost a day's work cause of it. Remember kids, always backup!

Every single update, there's someone whose machine turns into a brick. It's like a rule or something. I stopped trusting updates long ago, and now I'm feeling pretty smart about it. RIP to your deadlines though.

Omg, same here! I updated and it's a mess. Nothing works. What do we even do now?!

That's the infamous Blue Screen of Despair for ya. If you can't boot normally, try interrupting the boot process three times in a row to trigger automatic repair. From there, troubleshoot -> advanced options -> rollback to the previous version. If your files are not backed up, get a Linux Live CD to save your work before you nuke the update. And next time, wait a few days before updating - let others be the guinea pigs.

Dude, I feel you. Ran the update last night and now it's like my laptop's got a mind of its own. Check if you can boot in safe mode and rollback the update. Good luck with those deadlines tho!
