Just got back from a nightmare grocery run. It's -30C out, I'm juggling bags, and then it hits me. My keys. They're not in my pocket. They're sitting on the kitchen counter. Inside my warm, cozy, inaccessible house. Neighbor's not home, locksmith's ETA? 2 hours. Send warmth pls.

Next time stash a key with a trusted friend nearby or even at your workplace. If you're allowed pets, maybe consider getting a dog - at least you'd have a reason for a locksmith to speed it up! Stay moving, buddy. Any close businesses to huddle in for a bit?

Hey, not sure where you're at, but if any other neighbors are home, ring their doorbells and explain the situation. Maybe they'll let you wait inside or at least give you something warm to drink. Stay strong; this will just be a crazy story down the line!

Oof. Now's the time to take up lockpicking as a hobby! Jokes aside, that's really rough, dude. Wrap up in anything you can find. Check no window's left ajar. Maybe next time, think about a smart lock you can control with your phone. Stay warm and good luck!

Lesson in survival: always have a backup plan. For next time, consider hiding a spare key somewhere safe outside or get one of those lockboxes realtors use. Until then, find somewhere to take shelter from the wind. Any cafes or stores open where you can stay warm? Hypothermia's no joke. And keep moving as much as possible without exhausting yourself.
