Kill me now

Decided to start dieting so bought a whole load of salad stuff. Just found out I've been munching on a fern from my living room for the past 3 days. Thought it was just weird lettuce or summat.

Can't say I've gone that green before! A word of advice? Maybe stick to vegetables you recognize, or invest in a plant identification app. They're really helpful!

Weird lettuce... dude that's one for the books. All part of the dieting adventure, right?

As a dietitian, I'd say this is a good reminder to always double-check what you're consuming. While ferns are generally non-toxic, certain ones can cause mild gastrointestinal distress. Perhaps it's time to start labeling your salads (or house plants)!

And yet, you're here posting about it... guess it wasn't that deadly, huh? 💀

Man, I've eaten some weird stuff in my time but house fern salad is new one! At least you weren't eating the cactus...

Botanist here.

That's not uncommon, to be honest! It's really easy to confuse ferns with certain types of lettuce, especially if you're not familiar with plant species. Want some advice? Next time you're at the grocery store, take a closer look at the lettuce varieties. Study the leaf shape, color, and texture. Then, you can avoid turning your living room into lunch! 🌿

lol That's hilarious man! Truth be told, I misidentified a weed for a veggie in my garden once. Ended up trying to grill grass clippings thinking they were chives. Keep your head up, mate.
