TIL about the Great Emu War and honestly 😂

Did y'all know Australia once had a military operation against emus?! Like, in 1932, the farmers were like 'Emus are wrecking our crops!' and the military stepped in with machine guns. Spoiler: the emus won.

The Great Emu War proves birds are government drones. Emus survived machine gun fire? Impossible unless they're metal under those feathers. Open your eyes people, it's all a simulation!

Tough times for those farmers though. Imagine surviving WWI only to have your livelihood threatened by some feathered fiends. Can't say I'd enjoy machine gunning birds, but they were desperate.

It's funny on the surface, but the Great Emu War was actually a result of post-WWI issues. Farmers, many of whom were veterans given land by the government, faced agricultural devastation due to over 20,000 emus migrating and trampling their fields. The government's response with military force, while seemingly absurd, highlights the desperation of that period. Fascinating and slightly tragic when you dig into it.

Oi, don't laugh mate, it was a serious problem at the time 😅. Those emus were destroying crops left and right. But yeah, gotta admit it's a pretty wild chapter in Australian history. Next time kangaroos, maybe? 😜

Imagine going to war and getting outsmarted by a bunch of big birds 😂 Emus are basically modern velociraptors minus the teeth, what did they expect? Majestic creatures 1, Aussie farmers 0.
