I've just bought one of them 'avocado multi-tools'. My grandson tells me it's a useless piece of junk, but I tell him, 'Sonny, when you have arthritis, you come talk to me about useless inventions.' It splits the avocado, takes out the pit and even scoops out the flesh. Might seem useless to you young ones, but it's a blessing for these old hands of mine!

While it's great that you're finding use from the tool, it's important to remember that items like these are often composed of plastic and can't be easily recycled. Let's try to think about the number of items we consume and the waste we generate.

In my experience as a tool collector, all tools (even those deemed 'useless') have their place. It's about understanding and appreciating their purpose and limitations. An avocado tool is specifically designed to perform a set of tasks related to an avocado, and for someone with arthritis, to a veteran chef, it might be a godsend. It's simple to use, reliable and safe, particularly for those whose hands might be prone to injury with a knife. So yes, it might not be for everyone, but that certainly doesn't make it 'useless'.
