Traveling alone has changed my life, no joke.
It all started in Thailand, a trip meant to be with friends turned solo when everyone bailed last minute. Was gutted at first, but it turned out to be a blessing. The freedom you feel is unreal - waking up when you want, going wherever the wind takes you without compromises.
You'll learn heaps about yourself too. Navigating foreign places, overcoming obstacles and guess what? You’re hella capable, who knew? Ain’t nothing like that confidence boost when you figure out a foreign subway system or order food in another language.
But it’s the people that make it. Mingling with locals, making friends with other solo travelers, it's like joining a secret club where everyone is in on the adventure.
I guess what I’m saying is, if you’ve ever thought about going it alone, just do it. Take the plunge. It’s scary, exhilarating, and utterly liberating. Can’t recommend it enough. 😌🌏

Every word you wrote resonated with me. I've been traveling solo for years and I learned more about myself on the road than anywhere else. There’s just something about getting lost in a new city that feels like finding a new part of yourself. You get to reinvent who you are with no one else's expectations weighing you down. Thailand is just the start, so many worlds within this world to explore!

Here's the thing though, solo travel isn't for everyone. It's not all roses and rainbows. You gotta be ready for the loneliness that can hit you outta nowhere. Finding a travel buddy can vary wildly from place to place too. If you can handle it—great. But for those reading, don't feel bad if solo travel ain't your cup of tea.

I've been toying with the idea of solo travel for ages but anxiety kicks in hard. Reading your experience is a kick up the backside I prob need lol. Thailand is actually on my bucket list... Any tips for a first-timer? Did you pre-book accomodation or just wing it each night?

Absolutely vibing with your take on solo travel! It's like being the main character in your own adventure movie, isn't it? Thailand is such a gem for those first solo experiences. I found that every solo trip since has just been leveling up in life skills and confidence. For those considering it, hostels are a goldmine for making connections—hostel bars, communal areas or just signing up for activities. And yeah, things will go wrong, but they're just plot twists, right? Happy travels!
