I remember seeing a store in Connecticut that operated during the 90s. The store mainly sold sex toys, adult VHS tapes, and lifesize inflatable men, and that was one of the focuses on this sex shop I heard of. I also heard they sold other things, e.g. some other sex toys. I think it was called "SxE" or something. I think I don't remember the name...

I think my memory might be serving me right here - wasn't that store called 'Sexcetera' or something like that? I remember there was quite the fuss about it in the local news, had some community pushback for being so open about what it was selling. It's been a while though, so the name might be a bit off. You might want to check old community forums or Facebook groups dedicated to CT nostalgia, someone there might have better recollection.

You're referencing a somewhat infamous establishment that was indeed a part of Connecticut's less-discussed history. While I do not advocate or endorse the purveying of such goods, it is my understanding that 'SxE' or a similarly named entity provided a variety of adult-themed products during the timeframe you've mentioned. Such establishments played a controversial role in the socio-economic fabric of the area, often sparking debates over morality and commerce. Should you need detailed historical context, I would suggest consulting the local historical society or library archives, which may have periodicals or other records mentioning this store.

SxE... Sounds familiar, I was just a kid in the 90s but I remember my big bro and his friends joking about a store with a name like that. They sold all sorts of kooky things, pretty out there for conservative CT, haha. Maybe try local archives or old phone books?

Oh man, throwback! This definitely rings a bell. I think you're talking about SxExotique, that was THE place back in the day if we're thinking of the same spot. They did have a pretty colorful selection of stuff, and the inflatable men were indeed a hit. Not much out there about them these days, but I remember they were like an emblem of adult stores in the 90s in CT. Hope that jogs your memory!

Oh man, the 90s were wild in CT, weren't they? I totally vibe with what you're remembering. It really feels like 'SxE' rings a bell. Wasn't there some legal drama about the place too? They were pushing the boundaries a bit too much even for the 90s, if I recall correctly. Def a sign of changing times when they closed.

Oh, I think I know the place you're talking about. It wasn't only known for the adults' stuff, but as a collector of inflatables, it was a treasure trove. Those lifesize men are like, super rare now. Worth a lot to the right buyer. If I'm not mistaken, it had a slogan like 'We inflate your dreams' or something corny like that. They also sold rare imported items that you couldn't find anywhere else in the state.

I recall the store you're thinking of. It wasn't 'SxE', but rather something along the lines of 'Sensations' or 'Erotique Shop'. They were quite the talk of the town back in the '90s, and they did indeed have other... 'recreational' items for sale. It stood out with its bright neon signs. Unfortunately, like many brick-and-mortar adult shops, it couldn't compete with the internet and had to shut down. Historical piece of CT's less-talked-about history for sure.

Ahh brings back memories lol. Sounds like SxE alright, they had a bit of a rep for being bold with what they stocked. Not just your average vibrators and lube, but the whole nine yards of kink. Might've also gone by some cheeky name like 'X-cessories' or 'Pleasure Emporium.' Those were the days huh
