Alright drama lovers, throwback to an early 2000s medical show that’s got me vexed. Not as popular as ER or Grey’s Anatomy but it had its own cult following. It was hardcore into medical ethics issues and each episode made you really think. The lead was this brooding surgeon with a God complex and his foil was the hospital lawyer, always clashing over patient rights and whatnot. It had a gritty feel, not just your typical soap-opera hospital scenes. Help me out, I GOTTA find it again!

You're definitely thinking of 'Gideon's Crossing'. Came out in 2000, starred Andre Braugher as the intense lead surgeon and was known for not shying away from heavy ethical dilemmas. It was created by Paul Attanasio who also worked on 'Homicide: Life on the Street', so it had that authentic gritty vibe to it. Lawrence O'Donnell was involved too which explains the serious exploration of legal issues in medicine. It's often overlooked because it aired alongside giants like 'ER', but it was a gem for sure. Might be a bit tough to find streaming, but it's worth the search!

Is it 'Gideon's Crossing'? That show was from the early 2000s, featured a more serious take on the medical profession. Andre Braugher played Dr. Ben Gideon who def had a God complex. The show is totally underrated imho, didn't last long though, just one season.
