What I remember that the series was played at late at night in the 90s (possibly on Treehouse, since it was a late night block back then) and was aimed at preschoolers.
What I remember was that there were mascots of a monkey, a lion, and an elephant. The mascots would have fun, run around, play a game, tell jokes, or even sing songs.
What I also remember that the monkey, the lion, and the elephant were all male. I remember last watching an episode in 2000.
I remember the series airing during 1997 or 1998?

Hmm, maybe ‘Jungle Cubs’? It was based on Disney's 'The Jungle Book' and had young versions of the characters as animals chilling in the jungle, but I don’t think it was on Treehouse or specifically aimed at preschoolers. This is gonna drive me nuts now.

Alright, let's narrow this down. It's not 'Barney & Friends' for sure, 'cos no monkeys there. 'PB&J Otter' had animals and fun stuff like you mentioned, but again no monkey, lion, and elephant trio. If it's Treehouse we're talking about, their programming was pretty unique. Did the series seem educational, or was it more about the fun and songs?

I might be onto something here. Sounds like you're describing 'The Noddy Shop', which aired around that time and was pretty popular. It had animals and was definitely aimed at preschoolers. If I recall correctly, the animals were puppets and they talked and sang. Not 100% on the monkey, lion, and elephant description fitting, but it's worth checking out.
