So, I remember watching a 90s series on a German local station when I was a kid.
The series was possibly live action or animated, and featured a young kid who could draw using his drawing utensils, and his drawings would come to life, wreaking havoc. I think the drawings' magic worked on any surface, including water. I think it was definitely an American or a British series and was originated in English. I think I watched the German dub of the series.
Sadly, I don't seem to remember the show's name. Searches have turned up to Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings and Penny Crayon, which are not these shows. The actual show featured a transgender character, IIRC.

Let's break this down: You're certain it's a series, not a film. It's not 'Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings', not 'Penny Crayon', but does have magical drawings. Here’s a long shot, but sometimes shows like 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' featured unique storylines that are easily misremembered as full series because of their impact. Could this be an avenue worth exploring?

If his drawings came to life and wreaked havoc I sure hope he didn’t draw any trolls LOL... Jokes aside, are u sure it was a series and not a movie or a one-time special? Coulda sworn I saw something similar on late night TV once.

I think it was a TV series called "The Crayondrawing Heroes" that was a segment on some educational kids show called "Family Kings". I think both series are lost and are as easy as finding a needle in a haystack.

Dude, there's a chance you might be conflating two different shows or the show's details were messed up through a game of telephone, you know? There were a bunch of educational cartoons and short segments that could legit fit the bill. The trans character detail is throwing me off tho, didn't have much of that representation back then, especially in kids shows. Maybe the show was more indie or underground?

Oh totally remember watching something like that, the kid had like magical art supplies or something! Can't put my finger on the name either. Btw it's super frustrating when you can almost remember something. Maybe it was a one-off special or a pilot that didn't get picked up? Stuff from the 90s was wild.

uhm not sure if this helps but did the series have other supernatural elements? A kid with magic drawing sounds familiar... like kinda along the lines of 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' but not quite. You might be mixing up different shows from back in the day? Memory's a funny thing lol

I've dug pretty deep into lost media archives and gotta say, your quest sounds like a real obscure one. "The Crayondrawing Heroes" and "Family Kings" don't ring any bells, and I pride myself on knowing my stuff. Checked a few databases and forums, and nada. You might be onto something that hasn't been cataloged yet. If it's a segment, that's tricky b/c usually people remember the main show not the shorts within it. Hope you find more leads!

Intriguing quest, fellow seeker. While 'ChalkZone' and 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' are commonly cited, neither fit your transgender character note. Could it be you're thinking of a one-off character from a more broadly themed show? There was some experimental content on 'Liquid Television' on MTV. Some British children's series were quite ahead of their time as well... This might be a deep dive!

This is a tough one, especially with the inclusion of a transgender character which was quite rare for that time, particularly in children's shows. Could it be an obscure episode of 'Eerie, Indiana'? That had a bunch of weird phenomena, though I don't remember drawing magic specifically.

This totally sounds like 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' at first glance, but that doesn't have the transgender character you're talking about. Might you be mixing up two different shows? Shows that merge supernatural elements with real world often have a bunch of similar elements, easy to jumble them up in your head years later.
