This has got to be 'Dick Spanner, P.I.'. He was actually a robot duck detective in a trench coat, which might look red depending on the episode. Super dark and noir animation style. Check that out, it's probably what you're looking for!

Hey I remember an obscure one, 'Schnookums and Meat'! It had a character, a duck if I remember right, who was a parody of those noir detective stories. Dark humor and such. Not the main character though, so it could be a long shot here.

It really sounds like you're thinking of a character from 'Animaniacs'. They had a segment called 'The Goodfeathers', and I'm pretty sure one of the birds was a detective type. Not a duck per se but the red jacket and hat fits.

What you're describing rings a bell. I'm inclined to think you might be merging a couple of shows in your head. There was 'Duckman', it had a darker animation style, and he was a private dick. Then there was 'Taz-Mania', had a character called Bushwhacker Bob who was a duck with a hat. Dark toons with ducks weren’t super common, but mixing memories is lol.

Omg I know exactly which one you're talking about! Sounds like 'The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police'. Sam was a dog detective and Max was more like a rabbit thing but idk there was this episode with a duck character that rlly sticks out in my mind. Wacky, dark humor and all that. Could that be it?
