Aight, need some real film buffs here. Remember watching this beautiful classic British film, must've been from late 50s or early 60s. It's a love story and ends with couple dancing in a ballroom. The leading lady's wearing a red dress - she's a right knock-out, petite, short hair. The bloke has a mustache and a sleek suit, kinda reminds me of a less comedic Rowan Atkinson. Been through lists of old British films, but no luck. Little help here, anyone?

`Sounds like you're mixing up a couple films there, mate. Short-haired leading lady in red brings to mind Audrey Hepburn in 'Funny Face', but that's 1957, American and she dances in a nightclub, not a ballroom. The mustached bloke element could apply to a number of David Niven or Rex Harrison films, both very active in 50s and 60s, but nothing specific jumps to mind with that ballroom ending. I'd suggest revisiting some of the classic Ealing comedies and London films. Let's narrow down this film mystery! 🕵️♂️

This could be one of the films in the 'Lost and Found' category of the British Film Institute's list. Meaning, it could have been lost or it's under restoration because of damaged film. They're not readily available to the public, so maybe that's why you can't find it. 🤷♂️

Hmm... could it be 'The Servant' (1963)? It's not exactly a romantic film but it's British, it's got your time frame, and the leading man Dirk Bogarde vaguely fits your description. I remember a gorgeous ballroom scene but I'm not sure if it's at the end. The lady wasn't often in red though. Good luck!
