A movie with talking animals, NOT animated, 90s-00s era

This has been bugging me for weeks. It's a live-action movie with animals that talk. There was this one scene where I distinctly remember a monkey or some primate having a super serious convo with a human. It's NOT any of the 'Dr. Dolittle' movies, but it might have been a straight-to-TV. The vibe was weird, almost uncanny. Maybe it was a family film? I've scoured IMDb to no avail. Help!!

No one's mentioned Ed yet? Movie about a chimp who plays third base in minor league baseball. It had a weird vibe too, perhaps what you're remembering.

What you're describing could potentially be The Animal. It starred Rob Schneider as a guy who gets animal parts transplanted and starts taking on their traits. It's live-action, kinda on the uncanny side, and from 2001.

Dude, this is driving me nuts now. I totally remember something like this... Was it maybe Dunston Checks In? That movie with a chimp in a hotel, and it def had some bizarre human-monkey chats.

Sounds like it could be MVP: Most Valuable Primate. I remember watching that back in the day, it had a hockey-playing chimp and some weirdly serious moments for a family flick. Might not be it but worth checking out!
