Searching for a mind-blowing guitar riff

All right, music lovers, I'm trying to hunt down this track that has the sickest guitar riff around, possibly from a 70s rock band. It's one of those riffs that gets stuck in your head but you can never recall who plays it or the song title. For context, I think it came after an album that was a huge success back in the day. Could it be Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water'? It came out in the early 70s and the riff is INSANELY catchy. Plus, it was after their success with 'Machine Head'. Just a thought!
