Obscure board game from the 70s/80s?

Does anyone recall a board game that involved solving a mystery or crime from maybe the late 70s or early 80s? It came in a big box with lots of little pieces and maybe a magnifying glass. It wasn't Clue, something else... maybe the word mystery was in the title? Help!

If you can recall any more details, like the kind of mysteries or if there was a board involved, let us know! It could open up more possibilities. Games like 'Master Detective' or the older versions of 'Spy Alley' also come to mind.

Ah, the 70s and 80s were the golden age for analog gamers. What you're remembering probably is 'Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective'. More a game of intellect and less elusive with pieces and clues. If it's not that, your memory could be glamorizing something less impressive.

Hey, I totally know what you mean! Could it be 'Stop Thief!'? It has an electronic component for some real detective action, and it's from the late '70s. Love the nostalgia!

Maybe 'Mystery Mansion'? It kinda fits the era you're thinking of, though I'm not 100% sure about the magnifying glass. They re-released a version later, too.

Sounds like you might be thinking of '221B Baker Street.' It's like detective work on a board game, and it definitely had a magnifying glass in the box art! Not completely obscure, but not as mainstream as Clue.
