Should I choose profit or social good?

I'm stuck between two business ideas. One has potential for really high profit, but it's just a run-of-the-mill e-commerce store. The other idea is a social enterprise focused on sustainability, but the margins are super tight. I want to do something meaningful, but the e-commerce idea seems like a safer bet. Any advice?

Choose profit, because the world clearly has enough feel-good businesses struggling to stay afloat. 🙄 But, hey, I could be wrong! Maybe you’re the one who’s gonna save us all. Best of luck!

Always choose social good if you can afford it! We need more people prioritizing the planet. Plus, storytelling can really help here. People like supporting brands with a purpose. But, make sure you have a solid plan to stay afloat financially.

Hey, here’s a thought for you — how about integrating sustainability into your e-commerce business? It’s not an either/or. Start with the safer bet, build an audience, and introduce sustainable products over time. This way, you blend profit and purpose. Think long-term.

Super tight margins can mean constant struggle, especially early on. That's stressful. Just being honest, doing good doesn't pay the bills. Secure your financial base first, then fund the social impact stuff once you're a bit more stable.

Do the social enterprise! The planet needs more change-makers and sometimes passion trumps profit. Maybe you can find like-minded people to partner with or investors who believe in your vision. Don't underestimate the power of purpose!

TBH, go for the e-commerce store. Get yourself some solid financial cushion and experience in running a business. You can always pivot or expand into the social good space down the line.

High margins are great, but sustainability is the future. A lot of investors are looking at social enterprises now. It might be tight in the beginning, but there’s huge potential as global trends shift. Plus, there are grants and incentives available for eco-friendly businesses.

Why not both? You could start with the e-commerce store to establish a steady revenue stream and then use the profits to fund the social enterprise. This way, you can gradually shift your focus toward something meaningful without financial pressure.
