Interning at a startup is NOT what I expected

Got into a startup hoping for some exciting work. Ended up making endless coffee runs and creating mindless reports. Is this normal or am I at the wrong place? Was really hoping to learn coding and product dev. Any tips from fellow interns?

Dude, get out if it’s not what you signed up for. There’s plenty of places where you can get real coding experience instead of being an errand boy.

It's a common issue. I’d recommend talking to your supervisor about your roles. A lot of the time, higher-ups aren't aware of what interns end up doing day-to-day. Initiative makes a big difference!

Welcome to my world. LOL. Tell them you're allergic to coffee runs, and start coding during all that down time. Maybe find a small project and show it to your manager?

Hang in there! Even mundane tasks can teach you something about how startups operate. Use the time to network, build connections and show your willingness to learn and contribute more!

Welcome to the mess that’s startup life! It's a rollercoaster. If you really want to dive into coding and product dev, ask around and show initiative. A lot of times, folks will let you jump in if you show you’re serious. Otherwise, might be worth reconsidering if it doesn’t align with your career goals.

Yup, been there! 😑 Unfortunately, some startups just need bodies to fill lower-level, mundane tasks. Sometimes you gotta pay your dues, but def speak up and ask for more hands-on stuff! Maybe they didn't realize what you're interested in.
