Experience with accelerator programs

Participating in Techstars back in 2018 was a game-changer for my startup. The mentoring, networking, and resources they provided were invaluable. However, it’s NOT for everyone. The equity they take can be a tough pill to swallow if you're not prepared. Research well before diving in.

Accelerators like Techstars can be fantastic if your startup is at the right stage for hyper-growth. It's not just about the funding but also the guidance and connections which can be pivotal. Weigh the equity loss versus the potential growth accurately.

Exactly! The mentorship alone can be worth its weight in gold, but you have to be strategic about it. Get the most out of every meeting and network like your startup's life depends on it—because it does!

Accelerators are just overrated clubs for wannabe Zuckerbergs. 🙄

Bootstrapping all the way here. The thought of giving away equity just makes me uneasy. Risky, but so is giving away part of your business.

Did an accelerator once. Great for connections and mentorship, but make sure you're ready to give up a chunk of equity. Not suitable if you're independent and don’t want outside influence.

What's Techstars? Is it really worth the hype?

If you think Techstars is aggressive with equity, try negotiating with YC or 500 Startups. Accelerator programs can help but always do the math. Sometimes you give away more than you gain.

Totally agree! Techstars can be intense but amazing if you're at the right stage. It skyrocketed our network and visibility. But yeah, that equity tho... 😅
