How to validate my startup idea?

Hey all! I'm new here and I've got this idea for an app that helps people cook meals with what's in their fridge. How do I even start validating this idea? Should I talk to people or just build a basic version and see what happens?

Before you dive into coding, consider setting up a landing page explaining your idea. Use tools like Unbounce or Instapage. Drive some traffic there from Google or Facebook ads and see if people sign up or show interest.

Yeah sure, because the best way to use up moldy cheese and three-day-old rice is through an app. 🙄

I’d be interested in something like that! Maybe start with a social media group around cooking with leftovers and see if there’s traction before investing in app development.

Do a bit of market research to see if there are other apps out there doing the same thing. Check their reviews, see what users are saying. Sometimes you don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

Just build the damn thing. You don't need perfect validation to see if something works, just a basic version. Get it out there and see who bites.

First off, talk to potential users. Validation starts with understanding your users' pain points. Build an MVP (minimum viable product) only if the feedback is positive and strong enough. Then, measure engagement and iterate.

You could start by creating a simple survey to understand if people actually face this problem and would use an app like yours. Use Google Forms or Typeform. Share it in relevant subreddits, Facebook groups, wherever you think your audience hangs out.
