So, I remember watching an ad when I was a kid on a station called KABC. The ad could have been aired in 1989, but I think the release of the ad was slightly older.
The ad began with a still of some legs walking. Then, we cut to a boy cleaning up the room, until he sees some footsteps. Then, a door creaks, and then, an eye appears behind the door.
The eye is revealed to be part of Chuck E. Cheese, a rat mascot of a famous pizzeria called Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre (aka Chuck E. Cheese's, Pasqually's Pizza and Wings, or Chuck E. Cheese). Then, Chuck E. Cheese brings his electric guitar, and soon get accompanied by other rats. Chuck E. Cheese's and the other rats were suitmation (people dressed in mascot type costumes). When the rats begin to play, Chuck E. Cheese sings something that goes like: "Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre, where a kid can be a kid!" or something. Then, the logo for CEC appears with the text: "You deserve to eat pizza.".
Sadly, I can't find this commercial online.

Fascinating. If I might offer a suggestion, consider reaching out to the Paley Center for Media. They have a substantial repository of old television programming and commercials. If that ad aired, there's a chance they might have it in their collection, particularly since KABC is a significant station.

I know exactly what ad you’re talking about! Saw it as a kid and it scared the cheese outta me lol. Been ages tho and no luck finding it online either. Maybe someone in the r/VintageAds or r/VHS communities has stumbled on it? Worth crossposting.

Gotta say, that’s a tough one. I’ve got crates of old VHS tapes with recorded TV blocks from that era, and I've digitized a lot. Haven't come across what you're talking about though. Maybe if you got any more details? Stations, surrounding shows, time of year? Anything can help.

Super interesting! I'm somewhat of a Chuck E. Cheese history buff, and what you're describing sounds like it could've been a regional ad or a limited run. KABC catered to LA area, and local ads from that time are harder to find. The 'suitmation' era of CEC had some pretty obscure promos.

Oh man, that takes me back. Those old CEC ads were wild. Don’t think I've seen the one you're describing, but I totally remember the jingle. Have you tried digging through the vintage ad compilations on YouTube? Sometimes they’re buried in those long comps nobody's watched in years.
