I've been thinking about turning my old gaming PC into a server for me and my friends to play on. It's got an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and about 8GB of RAM – do you guys think that's enough to host a stable Terraria server for like 5 people max? Any input would be dope, cheers!

Ryzen 5 1600 is a solid CPU for lightweight servers. Your 8GB of RAM is a tad on the low side – Terraria isn't RAM hungry, but servers always appreciate more. Especially if you plan on running a modded server in the future. Also, make sure your network settings are optimized for hosting game servers. Port forwarding and firewall settings are crucial for a smooth experience. And as always, back up your server often!

8GB? sigh I suppose it'll do for Terraria and a small group. But honestly, it's 2023 – why skimp on RAM? You can pick up another 8GB stick for cheap and give yourself some headroom. It's not just the game, but the OS uses RAM too, ya know?

Ryzen 5 1600 and 8GB of RAM? Yeah, that should be more than enough for a Terraria server with just 5 peeps. Terraria isn't that demanding, and since it's not a AAA title, you won't have any trouble. Make sure your internet upload speed is decent though, otherwise, you might see some lag spikes when everyone's on.
