For anyone who's looking to set up an FTP server without splashing the cash, I gotta tell ya, FileZilla Server is where it's at. Completely free, open-source goodness.
Setting it up's a breeze, install the software, and the wizard will guide you through. The admin interface is kinda old school but super powerful. You can adjust the settings to manage how many peeps can access it simultaneously, set speed limits to prevent bandwidth hogging, and tons more.
Don't skimp on security, folks. Ensure you configure TLS encryption to keep those file transfers secure, especially if you're doing business or sensitive stuff. The last thing you need is some rando sniffing around your data!
I've been running a FileZilla Server for my small biz and the reliability is top-notch. No hiccups, lags or whatevs. Highly recommend it if you're on a budget but still need a solid solution.

Long-time user of FileZilla Server here. It's robust for sure, but let's not forget to mention it’s cross-platform support. That’s a big win for those of us who aren't glued to Windows. They've kept up with updates pretty well too, so kudos to the devs.

Good shout on the TLS setup. Can't stress enough how important secure connections are these days. A friendly reminder to regularly update your FileZilla and keep an eye on the logs. Seeing weird access attempts? Maybe consider implementing a firewall or using an SFTP for that extra layer of security!

Absolutely seconding FileZilla Server! For anyone who's just starting out and feeling intimidated, don't worry. There's a ton of tutorials out there. Just search YouTube for setup guides, and you'll be transferring files like a pro in no time.
