Silent NAS options for a bedroom setup?

Hey y'all, just got into this NAS thingy and I'm looking for a NAS that's real quiet. Gotta have it in my bedroom, and I'm a light sleeper. Would be super grateful for recommendations on models that won't sound like a jet engine. Thnx!

TBH any NAS will make some noise, the drives themselves ain’t silent. But if noise drives u crazy, don't skimp on the NAS—get something quality. Also, SSDs are quieter than HDDs, so maybe consider that for at least the system drive?

One word: TerraMaster. Specifically the F2-220. It has a sleep mode that makes it super quiet when not in use, which is great for a bedroom setting. Plus, you can schedule it to run intense tasks when you're not sleeping.

lol just turn on some white noise and call it a day. NAS fans are like lullabies for geeks.

Silence is golden, especially in the bedroom. If you want it dead quiet, consider a fanless design or a QNAP HS-453DX. If not, anything with larger, quality fans that run at a lower RPM will generally be quieter. Replacing stock fans with high-quality aftermarket ones like Noctua can also make a substantial difference.

For a bedroom, I'd suggest looking at Synology's DiskStation models, something like the DS218+. Those are designed to be pretty quiet - and they're easy to set up for a NAS newbie.
