Who else misses the good ol' days of Nicktoons?

Man, sometimes I just miss the simplicity of coming home after school and flipping on shows like Doug and Rocko’s Modern Life. The animation and stories just had this different vibe back then. Anyone else remember those popcorn-filled afternoons on the couch with those classics?

Those days were great, but ngl it was all about those popcorn afternoons for me. Nicktoons were just background noise to my serious after-school snack session lol.

Haha, you'd come home, throw down your backpack, and just get lost in those shows. I still have VHS tapes somewhere! 🙃 Nicktoons back then just told stories differently—you could feel more heart and creativity. God, now I'm tempted to rewatch 'Aaahh!!! Real Monsters'. Too many shows, not enough time!

Honestly, never got the hype with those shows. Doug? Basic. Rocko? Weird for the sake of being weird. Nowadays, the animation’s evolved for sure, but so has storytelling. Funny how nostalgia can blur the flaws.

I just joined Reddit because of this post lol. Doug was seriously the best! I mean, who didn't love Skeeter? Those were the days, man. Everything felt more laid back. Gotta say, I miss not having to think about more than which old Nicktoon to watch after school.

OMG yessss! Those afternoons with my snacks and 'Hey Arnold!' were golden. Kids these days don’t know what they’re missing lol! Idk if it's the animation style or the storylines, but something hit different back then.

I get what you mean. 90s Nicktoons had a raw, hand-drawn aesthetic that influenced the storytelling vibes a lot. Rocko's Modern Life, for instance, was packed with social satire wrapped in quirky animation. Those shows had a glossy sensibility that’s largely missing nowadays.

Interestingly, the rise of digital animation has kind of smoothed out some of the weird edges, for better or worse. Today’s animations lean towards a cleaner look, but sometimes that can mess with the feel of the narrative flow. I suppose both styles have their merits though.

Could deep dive into this forever, lol.

Absolutely! Doug and Rocko were the best. Remember 'Rugrats' too? The simpler animation style gave it a unique charm. Today's shows just aren't the same.
