Built a ghost detector... it went off

Okay, so I made a DIY ghost detector from some old junk and a guide I found online. Never believed in ghosts, just thought it'd be fun. Went off once during the night but figured false alarm. Then it went wild at 3 AM and every light in the hallway blew out. My dog barked at the open air for 10 min. Now my partner doesn't want it in the house.

Classic 3 AM spookiness! Keep in mind, psychological effects (hello placebo!) can make things scarier. Recommend trimming to the mundane before jumping to the ghostly, but sounds like your house got something goin on either way!

It might help to keep a logbook of when the detector goes off and what happens afterwards. Could help see if there's a pattern. I’d also look into the house’s history. Maybe there’s more to it than simply old wiring.

Clearly, you’ve angered the electrical gremlins. Better try appeasing them with batteries and tin foil hats, before they strike again! 😂

Yikes, that sounds intense. What kind of detector did you build? There's so many online guides—wondering if some work better than others? Wonder what set it off... Have you noticed anything else odd happen since then?

Your ghost detector, depending on what it's made from, could be picking up all sorts of electromagnetic interference. Do you live near any cell towers or power lines? At 3 AM sudden power surges aren’t unheard of in older systems, especially if a large appliance kicked on.

My partner and I had a similar situation a few years back, made me into a believer. We ended up asking the spirits what they wanted, and things calmed down after that. Maybe try talking to 'it' and setting some boundaries? Also, sage! It helped us. Good luck!

Sounds like faulty wiring or a defective detector more than anything supernatural. Hallway lights blowing out could be a coincidence or legit electrical problem. Dogs pick up on a lot of things humans don’t, but open air barking doesn’t necessarily mean ghosts! Maybe try getting an electrician to check things out.

Whoa, sounds like some serious activity! Do you know the history of your place? Sometimes old wiring can cause funky energy spikes, but blown-out lights and your dog's reaction might mean more. I'd suggest running a few more tests with the detector. Try recording EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena) to see if you can catch anything else at 3 AM!
