My grandad used to talk about a film he saw as a kid - a featurette called 'The Forgotten'. A story about a man who wakes up in a town where nobody can see him. Spooky stuff. Thing is, there's no record anywhere of such a film. He's insistent it was real, had big local buzz back in the day. If anyone has any info or can point me toward old film archives that aren't online, that'd be rad.

Not much to go on, but 'The Forgotten'... Hm, if it's as old as it sounds, it's pre-digital so check for film auctions and estate sales where old reels come up. Collectors sometimes don't even know what they have. If it was a small-time production it might’ve just circulated locally. I’d say post some wanted ads in collector circles online. Good luck, I'd love to see this gem found!

I do know that there were a ton of indie, short films produced way back that never got officially logged or archived. Might've been produced by a local filmmaker or for some sort of private showing. Best bet is to track the local history where your grandad saw it. Think local film clubs, schools, collector societies. They might have leads on private archives or collectors who specialize in that era. Hope it turns up!

Omg, that sounds so cool and right up my alley! I really hope someone finds it. Maybe check out some silent film forums too? Some of those folks have seen EVERYTHING. It feels like the kind of eerie concept that could be from an old silent horror short.

Hey! This might be a long shot, but there's this antique store downtown that also has a bunch of old film reels and VHS tapes, mostly unlabelled. I know the owner is a bit of a film aficionado and sometimes helps universities with their media research. Might be worth a visit or a call to see if he's heard of 'The Forgotten' or has anything like it.

Dude, you're in for a dive into the analog depths 😅 Hit up your local libraries and check if they've got microfilm newspapers from around the time gramps was young. They used to list local screening events and trust me, sometimes stuff that never went mainstream pops up. City archives can be a treasure trove too. If you're really lucky, they might have some old theatre programs or advertising flyers. It's a long shot, but hey, all lost media was just undiscovered 'till someone took the plunge. Keep us updated!

Sounds super familiar, actually. I remember stumbling upon a blog about obscure pre-1950s shorts and that title rings a bell. No idea if it's the same film, nor do I remember the blog's name. Maybe try digging around for old cinema blogs dedicated to the lost and forgotten? They often have gold nuggets. Good luck, curious if this mystery gets solved!
