is it like super important to trademark a logo? been designing some for a local band and not sure if we need to get into legal stuff. they're not big or anything, but their logo's pretty sick and it'd suck if someone jacked it. thoughts?

IDK, man. Trademarks are a sign ur getting serious about branding which is dope. But they can also be a hassle. Is the band ready to dish out $$$? Being legally prepared is smart but weigh out the costs vs how much the band’s pushing their image rn.

trademarks? pffft, just slap that logo on everything and dare someone to steal it. if they do, that’s punk rock, right? let the music speak, not the legal bs. but hey, if ur logo is that sick, get ready to fight for it someday. just sayin'.

As someone who's worked in IP law, I can tell you that a trademark provides legal protection for your logo and helps in building brand identity. If the band ever gets big, having that trademark can save a lot of trouble. Plus, it helps with merch rights. Granted, the process is a little complex and can get expensive, but it's much more costly to settle a lawsuit over stolen graphics. Just my professional $0.02.

I'm new to design, but from what I've seen, trademarks are legit ways to protect your work. Even if the band’s just local, it would totally suck to see their logo on some random merch without getting credit or cash. Maybe check out some online services? They can do it for cheaper than a big legal firm.

Gonna weigh in here with some quick advice. It's always good to trademark because intellectual property is a valuable asset. The cost of trademarking can be worth it in the long run. It could prevent legal headaches down the line and establish brand identity. You don’t need a lawyer to file it but getting one can help navigate the complex process, especially if the band starts gaining traction. Better safe than sorry, guys.

Yeah it's pretty key if you don't want your design to get swiped. I mean, someone could totally use it for their thing and claim it was theirs. But then again, if they're small time, maybe just a solid watermark for now is enough, till they hit it big, you know?
