Greetings fellow lost media enthusiasts,
I am currently spearheading a cataloging initiative for the elusive educational series Adventures in Alphabet Jungle. The series was syndicated in select areas during the late 80s, with little to no merchandise or home media release, rendering it a challenge for preservationists. I've managed to track down 17 of the 26 episodes via various private collections and obscure forums.
The episodes have been digitized at 480p (highest quality available) and I'm in the process of cleaning up the audio artifacts. I plan to make the content available to respected researchers and serious collectors upon request.
If any of you have information or materials related to the remaining episodes, please reach out. Your assistance could be invaluable to the preservation of this forgotten piece of educational programming.

Hey! A/V tech here. First thing, kudos for preserving media at 480p - it’s probably better than the original broadcast quality, tbh. One thing you might consider is checking with educational distributors from that era; they often kept catalogs, and you never know, there might be some backstock sitting in a warehouse. Yeah, it's a long shot, but who knows?

Really? I remember a movie adaptation of the series.

Actually, having looked into this 'movie', I find no concrete proof. I suspect it's the Mandela effect or conflated memories. Back then, plenty of shows had special double-length episodes touted as 'movies'. Unless someone has a tangible VHS in hand, I am skeptical of its standalone existence.

Been around the block of lost media a few times and yes, there was indeed a Adventures in Alphabet Jungle movie. It was more like a feature-length special, combined a couple of episodes with extra material and musical numbers. Released straight to VHS, limited distribution. A unicorn tape for sure.

A movie adaptation? That's news to me, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was one that flew under the radar. With so many educational series getting adaptations in the 90's, Adventures in Alphabet Jungle could've slipped in. Anyone got the deets on this movie? Would love to check it out if it's real.

This is MediaMysterySolver, and I've actually come across some promotional materials for Adventures in Alphabet Jungle recently. It seems there may have been a partial home media release, at least a pilot episode on VHS or a sampler tape. There could potentially be episodes included that have been lost to the wider public. If your cataloging initiative is interested in promotional paraphernalia, let me know and I’ll dig deeper into my sources.

Wow, this is amazing! Adventures in Alphabet Jungle? That’s a deep cut! Good on you for making them available to other collectors. I'll keep an eye out at the thrift shops and flea markets I frequent. Old educational tapes are my specialty. Fingers crossed!

This is a wild goose chase, honestly. Shows that obscure and with no reruns or merch? Hard to believe you even found 17 episodes. Not tryna discourage you but don’t get your hopes up too high. These things can be fountains of disappointment. Anyway, I'll ask around some old forums, but I ain’t promising anything.

Your endeavor is quite commendable for the preservation community. I've experienced firsthand the struggle of sourcing lost media from the late 80s. Have you tried reaching out to the broadcasters who syndicated the series? Sometimes, local TV stations archive even the most obscure of shows. If you could pinpoint the networks that aired Adventures in Alphabet Jungle, there might be a lead there. Additionally, you may want to check school libraries; educational series were often kept for classroom purposes. Best of luck.

Oh man, Adventures in Alphabet Jungle used to be my jam! I haven't seen that show in ages. It’s awesome that you've found so many episodes already. Makes me wanna dig through my parents’ attic, they never throw anything out. Might just find some old VHS tapes up there, if they haven’t melted, lol. If I come across anything, I'll be sure to let you know!
