y'all ever heard about the 'Mystery at Hanging Rock' director's cut with a supposedly super weird ending? some scenes got the axe before it aired and they're somewhere out there. like apparently it explained the disappearances with some kind of paranormal twist... or so the story goes. anyone know more about this or is it just another urban legend?

Seen a few posts about this 'alternate ending' popping up every now and then. Until I see concrete evidence, it's just another urban legend to me. The internet loves a good mystery, so who knows what's real or just people's imaginations running wild.

Been collecting rare cuts of films for years, and this is one of those holy grails. Some claim they have it, but they never cough up the footage. I bet it's sitting in a vault somewhere, or maybe it's just an elaborate hoax. Cool to think there's more to the story, though.

Okay, so here's what I've dug up: some people who worked on production say weirder scenes were shot but never got past a rough cut. A scene involving a kind of 'dimensional rift' near the rock, with some kind of ethereal beings. No such ending has surfaced publicly though.

Actually, if you go back to the original source material, the novel, it hints at some pretty out-there concepts that might explain what the cut scenes were leaning into. The director wanted to keep things ambiguous and dream-like, though. The 'paranormal' could just be typical creative rumors. I'd be surprised if there's genuinely a director’s cut that clears up the mystery.

oh man, I've done some deep dives into this. the paranormal ending is like an open secret. there are storyboards that leaked awhile back suggesting some sort of time slip or alien encounter was originally part of it. no solid proof tho imo
