So, a friend of mine who loves Nintendo has mentioned on some forums about the existence of the UK localization of Paper Mario: Color Splash, titled Paper Mario: Colour Splash. It was essentially the same game but with most dialogue being translated for British people. I heard him mentioning that he bought the localization at Game and played it.
Sadly, I couldn't find any proof that it existed. No images, no footage, nothing. Searching for the UK localized title only brings me the original American English localization of the game.

Paper Mario is one of those franchises with a lot of rumours and supposedly 'lost' content circling around. But I can confirm, as someone who worked in a Game store for years, there was never a different British localization sold. The whole of Europe typically received the same localized versions for these games. What he might have had was a special edition or promo version, sometimes they have unique box art or extras, but the game itself wouldn’t have been any different.

I agree. I also remember having the CD-ROM for the localization, but I think it has been forgotten for years, and I think it is at the attic, picking up dust.

This is intriguing, as Nintendo typically releases one English version for both American and European markets with minor changes. For 'Paper Mario: Color Splash', there should be no exception. However, small batches of region-specific localizations aren't unheard of, usually for promotional purposes or special editions. Still, CDs for Wii U games would be highly irregular. Are you sure you're not confusing it with another PC game?

Seems a bit weird that there's no evidence of this, most lost media has some trace left behind. Maybe it's just an urban legend or a misremembered detail by your friend. If there's some unique British dialogue, there should at least be a script or transcript floating around somewhere.

I'm a bit of a Nintendo collector and I can tell you for sure there's no separate UK localization. All of Europe generally shares the same version. There might be slight regional adjustments like the title spellings, but otherwise it's the same game. Even checked with some of my contacts in the industry, nada. Might want to double-check with your friend, could be mistaking it with a fan-made mod or something.

honestly never heard of a british version of color splash with different dialogue, sounds kinda unlikely? I mean, Nintendo’s pretty consistent across Europe with their localizations, not sure why they’d do a special UK one. Your mate sure it wasn’t just the regular PAL version?
