Lost Scooby-Doo spin-off series

I recently came across some sketches and storyboards for a Scooby-Doo spin-off called 'Shaggy & Scooby: Mysteries Incorporated' from the early '80s. It seems like it never made it past pre-production. Anyone got details on why it was never greenlit?

I remember when everything was getting spin-offs in the '80s. Bummer this didn’t take off. Just imagine the reruns!

Well, prolly didn't get greenlit cause someone realized Shaggy & Scooby couldn't hold a show without Velma finding EVERYTHING 🤣

This is news to me! It's crazy how many shows never see the light of day. Wonder if any production stills or more concept art are out there?

Maybe it was canned because the plot hit too close to home? 🧐🥸 Could be the government didn't want us to figure out how to solve REAL mysteries with a dog like Scooby!

Yeah, I'm familiar with this. Hanna-Barbera pitched a lot of shows that never got past the concept stage. Often it was due to budget constraints and network interest. My guess is it didn't align with the trends kids wanted at the time. They were shifting focus to the Smurfs and Snorks then.

Man, that's a shame it didn't get made. Would've loved to see more Shaggy and Scooby adventures! 🤷

Interesting find! From what I've gathered, there were a few attempts at spin-offs around that era, but most didn't get funding. 'Shaggy & Scooby: Mysteries Incorporated' likely fell through because Hanna-Barbera was focusing on other projects.
