came across a mixtape at my local thrift store and there's this one song that hits just right. The tape label's faded but u can make out 'The Whimsicals'. It's got this indie/alternative vibe, kinda like early Radiohead. Anyone know where to find more of their stuff? A google search turned up nada.

Dude, early Radiohead vibes = must listen for me. Never heard of The Whimsicals tho. Hitting up indie record stores could help, or maybe there's a subreddit for the city where the thrift store is located? Local folks might have some leads.

Fascinating find! As an archivist, I recommend digitizing that tape immediately – magentic media degrades over time. Do you have the tools to convert it to a digital format? Once you do, it'd be invaluable to share it on platforms like YouTube or SoundCloud for preservation and perhaps someone might recognize it. I'd also suggest reaching out to local radio stations from the era – old DJs tend to remember these one-hit wonders or local heroes.

omg YES, I've been looking for The Whimsicals stuff forever! Found a single track on an old college radio website a while back and it's been stuck in my head since. They have this rare sound, just can't get enough of it. Let me try digging up that site again, maybe it's still there?

The Whimsicals, you say? Can't say it rings any bells, and I'm pretty deep into the indie scene. Might be a small local band that never made it big. If you could rip a snippet of the song and share it, some of us deep-cut aficionados might be able to hunt down more info based on the sound. Btw, checked Discogs? Sometimes even the most obscure releases are listed there.

Never heard of The Whimsicals but now you've got me curious. Indie/alternative with a Radiohead vibe sounds awesome. If it's really old or super indie, they might not have had much of an online presence. Ever thought about going back to the thrift store and askin' around? Someone might remember 'em, or who donated the tape.
