Lost Issue: 'Mystery Man #27' from the 1940's

guys, my gramps used to tell me about this comic, 'Mystery Man #27,' he read as a kid. Said it was the coolest with the hero fighting against time-traveling nazis or something. Ive scoured the net & gotten zeros. Any comic book junkies got the DL on this?

Hey, I’m all about preserving vintage comics. Got some tech to scan and clean up old comics for digital archiving. If anyone’s got a lead or a physical copy, hit me up, and we can work on making it available for everyone!

A comic about time-traveling Nazis? Count me in! Never heard of it, but I’ll ask around my vintage circles. Fingers crossed!

Actually, 'Mystery Man' was part of a short-lived trend of masked hero comics that were trying to ride the coat-tails of characters like The Shadow or The Phantom. 'Mystery Man #27' fighting time-traveling Nazis might be an amalgamation of storylines your gramps remembers. Highly doubt you’ll find it specifically because, to the best of my knowledge, it never went beyond #15. I’ll look into it, though, and post in a preservation group I'm part of.

Dude, I got a database for just this kinda stuff. Can't say I've seen anything about 'Mystery Man #27', but there’s always new finds popping up. Will let you know if anything surfaces!

You're probably outta luck. Lotsa comics from back then just didn't survive. War effort paper drives, moms tossing 'em, you name it. Plus, not digitized means it's like they never existed.

Oh, 'Mystery Man', that's a deep cut. Pre-Golden Age comics are hella tough to come by. If it's the one I'm thinking about, there was a series that had some legal issues because of likeness rights with some historical figures. Long story short, it got buried. Don't think any issue passed #14. Might want to check auction houses instead of the internet.
