yo guys, so ive been getting rly into silent films lately, & I came across a mention of this film called 'Tales of the Wandering Comet'. Apparently, it was super experimental with like, a spaceship & weird fantasy elements. Any film nerds got deets on this or know where to even start looking? The name alone has me intrigued.

Professional film archivist here.
The title 'Tales of the Wandering Comet' does not appear in the major silent film databases I have access to, including the AFI Catalog and the Library of Congress' Silent Film Database. This doesn't outright prove it doesn't exist; rather, it could mean that the film was obscure, not widely distributed, or potentially mislabeled.
Your reference to a spaceship and fantasy elements suggests it might belong to the science fiction genre of the time - which was certainly experimental. If the film did exist, it would've been incredible to see how they pulled off the special effects in the pre-CGI era.
For your hunt, start by reaching out to silent film enthusiast groups, some of which are on Facebook and have members with extensive private collections. Stay persistent; even lost films turn up in the oddest places sometimes.

Hey! Your best bet is to hit up a film historian. Someone who specializes in silent film might be able to help you. I’ve also seen some old catalogues in university libraries that list silent films - you could try there. Also, check the Silent Film Still Archive online, they sometimes have pics from really obscure films.

Hmm, stepping in to say that, realistically, you’re probably out of luck. Most silent films are lost, and one as obscure as 'Tales of the Wandering Comet' is likely disintegrated—assuming it ever existed beyond concept. Without a director name, studio, or any concrete details, it's a needle in a haystack. You might enjoy reading up on lost film restoration and preservation, though. Who knows, might inspire you to join the search for real.

Okay, 'Tales of the Wandering Comet' sounds wild, I’d love to see it too. Did some digging and it turns out it's one of those holy grail types—very little info out there. It’s likely a lost film, but I came across a theory that it might have been an ambitious project by Georges Méliès. No way to confirm, though. If you're serious about tracking it down, start scouring through film archives or old cinema magazines from the 1910s-1920s for any leads.
